Has anyone noticed issues with a (lack of) TrueTone causing Eye Strain? A few hours in to using my new Neo and I love it, apart from what I'm sensing as a bit of eye strain. I imagine this is caused by the lack of TrueTone, and a strain between the colour of the screen and the room, but wondered if others had experienced anything similar.

I've given F.lux a go to attempt to replicate TrueTone, but am in two minds about whether to keep or return...

Are you used to using smaller laptop screens? Not the same as holding an iPad or phone closer to your face. I tried to get used to an 14” MBP but once again went back to 16”. Also, the Neo default screen resolution is scaled to increase content on screen. Try setting it back down to 2X retina which should be 1204x753 and see if that helps. It will definitely (according to some) improve the sharpness of text and graphics.

Cheers. Used to a 13" screen for my work machine so not sure that's the cause. Good call on the resolution. I'm using the 'More Space' option as the default is too small - same goes for the resolution you suggested. Thanks for replying though!

I think @conmee is right that resolution is the main issue for eye strain. Get that right first.

But, on my MBP, turning off TrueTone does make the screen look blue-white in the evening with warmish room lighting. So, yes, I do think the lack of TrueTone may increase eye strain. Worth trying different settings with F.lux. But we all have different eyes.

I have a 15" Macbook Air and was pleasantly startled recently when I found how restful for my eyes it was to turn TrueTone on. On that basis I would never go back to not being able to have TrueTone or its equivalent. That rules out the Neo for me.

You know, I actually turn OFF TrueTone because it makes me feel like I have to squint to see accurate colors. It might be my eyes, but TT being on gives me a slight headache.
