Yeah, but the OP's friend has at least house and car paid for. It's just weird seeing people acting like $3000 is nothing when a lot of people actually do live on less than that.
Agree. With a $3000 income per month and not house payment or car payment, it's worth more than that.$3000 a month is indeed a lot! I'd take that for no work and be quite fine.
Sometimes simple living is a form of freedom. The best time of my life was back when I was making far less than three grand a month (paying for rent and a car as well). I was essentially living on Ramen and Coors Light, but boy was it a blast!![]()
While I understand where you are coming from, many in the US survive on less. And when you factor in a free home and car, then it is very doable. As soon as you acquire a family and a tax bill, it won't seem that much at all.![]()
Am I a prick for wanting to be able to afford a $2,500,000 house, a couple luxury cars, and have enough stored away to send my kids to college without breaking the bank?
IMHO yes.
Shall I instead choose to live in a place I don't want to live, drive cars that I feel no aesthetic connection with, and be indebted to banks for my children's educations?
This is the fundamental reason I disagree with you on nearly every one of your opinions on this board.
You can live wherever you like, driving a car is a dubious decision given the planet is choking to death because of them and no I don't think you should be indebted to banks for your children's education. I am saying that living in a world where most people survive on less than a $ a day and aspiring to owning a 2.5 million dollar house and two luxury cars makes you sound like a prick yes.
