Battery issues on Android devices are due to two things
1. The screens, which are usually 4" or larger
2. The cellular radios, which EAT POWER like crazy. I took the SIM out of an HTC G2 and the battery lasted for days (unheard of with Android phones).
Battery issues with android phones won't get solved until they figure out how to make UMTS chips draw less juice.
The reason why the iPhone4 can squeeze so much more battery life out of their phones is partly due to a smaller, dimmer screen and a crappy radio.
Its all about picking your poison.
