I have a PowerMac G4 that's running Darwin 8 (AKA, the core of Tiger) and I want to try and connect to it via a MacBook Pro from FTP, AFP, SSH, or any way I can so that I can some how get MacPorts compiled on the PowerMac running Darwin, but so far I have been unsuccessful in connecting to it. Any help would be appreciated.

You are going to have to turn on SSH from the terminal (meaning monitor + keyboard connected to the computer). This is reaching back, but I think you can do this with the 'service' command-line tool. I don't think that the AFP server was ever included in Darwin, so you are probably out-of-luck there (or compiling NetaTalk yourself).

This is doomed to be a frustrating experience.
