and when I add the movie file, it says that the movie is only 14 seconds long. It's a .AVI and I was trying to convert it so it's viewable using a DVD player using Toast. The size of the file is normal, but the full length doesn't show up. Any suggestions?

does it play normally in VLC, not corrupted? what codec is it encoded with? toast is good, but doesn't do everything.

other applications to try are handbrake and visualhub. (or derivatives)

Yeah it plays fine on VLC. I have no idea what the codec thing means. I've tried Handbrake and it has trouble converting it. Now I download the DivX converter and when I open up the file to convert it, it also says that the length is 14 seconds. Maybe they're counting just the first chapter of the movie? I have no clue.
