I just upgraded to 200GB of iCloud storage.

I want to backup my entire iPhone 5s. It's not backing up the photos. My iCloud storage is only using 2.3GB. My phone is currently using 21GB, with about 10GB of that being photos.

I thought the point of iCloud backup was to backup the entire phone (or at least the option to).

Do I want something that isn't possible?? How do I backup (and keep backing up) my entire device in iCloud?

iPhone 5s running 8.1.3

Thanks

Yes you do. iCloud backups do NOT back up the entire phone, which would be pointless, considering apps are already stored in Apple's app store. The only thing that's backed up via iCloud regarding apps are the data inside the apps. Also, Photo Stream (while it's still around) will back up 1000 photos which doesn't count against your storage. Your camera roll is also backed up via iCloud Backup and counts against your storage.

It's not a 100% bit by bit backup of the device. You need to read this article carefully to better understand this.

Noting can bet an iTunes backup for completeness (full/everything) and speed in restoring. Sometimes old school can be better school.

I do both; all the devices backed up via iTunes, then a nightly back up. Combined with the mac mini backed up to a time capsule.
