I used the windows to mac program to transfer my files and finder will not find them when I do a search. For some reason I can find my iTunes files and movies, but not any pictures that I transferred over. Eventually I was able to locate the folder and saw that they seem to be separate from everything else. Is there a good way to go about to move these so finder can search for them?

This is my first mac.

What do you mean they seem to be separate from everything else.

Maybe Spotlight has not finished indexing yet.

According to this Apple support document, you need to open iPhoto on the Mac and it will find and import the photos. Never tried this myself though.

Image files

Transferred your disk; these can be added to iPhoto.

Note : After migrating, you should open iPhoto and let it search the disk for photos to import.

So it seems finder doesn't search for files unless you have opened them; or that seems to be the case with the files transferred over from the migration program. After I opened the pictures, it was able to search for them; same for my movies and music. The mac showed these files as other data until i opened them.
