Hello. I'm trying to fix my brother's powermac g4 500. I purchased a new logic board for it and installed it. These are the problems i'm having so far:

1) I have to zap the pram before every boot or it won't boot. I have a brand new battery.

2) I've installed 9.2.2 on it (per my brother's request) and everytime I boot it up it tells me "the built-in memory test has detected a problem". Allows me to say ok and continue booting.

Any idea's would be so helpful. Thanks!

Sounds like you should take seriously the warning that says you have bad memory... Take out the memory chips, and install them one at a time, rebooting to see which one triggers the warning.

ok, yes! Fixed!! We pulled a memory chip that works with this mac out of an old pc and now everything is working properly!! Chime works, i don't have to zap pram. Thank you for your help. 🙂
