Trying to JB a first gen touch with 2.2.1 on it

Correction: it is a second gen 32 gig running 2.2.1

A friend wants me to JB her touch, but she has never backed it up and has like 600 songs on it. I tried using blackra1n last night but it didn't JB it. Any thoughts?

Does the version of Blackra1n require a newer firmware maybe? Did you try anything else like Redsn0w or pwnage tool? Just kind of thinking here, I'm not really sure.

Thats what I was wondering if blackra1n needs a newer firmware...my problem is she never did a back up and has over 600 songs and tons of stuff - I don't want to risk losing her stuff so i was looking for a simple JB like blackra1n

Songs and apps can be synced back thru itunes.
Blackrain doesnt JB 2.2.1

I was just going to ask why you don't back everything up now. I thought you needed extra software for the songs though. Like this:

She had never backed up and bought all her songs through the touch. If I do a sync and a back up it wont transfer her songs to my computer - or will it?

If it works like the iPhone just hit the transfer purchases to iTunes button.

Thats a good point "no Ice" what if they weren't iTune purchased songs, will those ones transfer?

How is it possible to buy music on a Touch using anything except the iTunes store?

if she bought it through the touch, then the purchases are linked to her account. if you have a mac, use senuti to retrieve the songs on your touch :]
