What year is the Mac from?
Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard will only work on Macs released until 2009.
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard will only work on Macs until 2011.
Mac OS X 10.7 Lion will only work on Macs until 2012.
OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion will only work on Macs until 2013.
OS X 10.9 Mavericks will only work on current and compatible Macs.

Do you have access to another Mac? Or if you have an Apple Store nearby, they may let you download OS X 10.9 Mavericks and make a bootable USB installer out of it, normally for free.

Leopard? Really! That's got to be worth something! Kinda like a Honus Wagner! Hold on to that and put it away somewhere safe.

Sims has all the answers, all I could try was a snarky comment, sorry. :/

Yea snow Leopard isn't that old. But anyways I do got another Mac but it's the white one from 08. Pretty old. I tried to download Mavericks but I think it's too old to use it. Gonna try again. How can I put it on USB?

What model Mac are you trying to reformat? You say you put in Leopard CD so perhaps yours came with Leopard? In that case you really should have been able to restore from CD, then reinstall Snow Leopard afterwards. Going to the Apple store is free for up to 30 minutes of help. The can get your system booted up over the network in a matter of seconds and they can tell you how to get it working again on your own. Make an appointment first (online) and then go to the Apple store.
