Hi,

I am currently using an iPad 2 as a consumption device (I read comics, websurf, etc). I would like to upgrade for two reasons:

1. Increase storage capacity for more comics
2. Get a pen so I can use the iPad for notetaking at work - particularly tasks or other things that I use currently use paper for.

I really don't want to spend more then $600 for an iPad and a pen. Right now, at apple a refurbised iPad with 128GB is 589. Add a pen and tax and my checkout total is 749 (and that's without applecare).

For those who pay attention, how much lower would you expect this version of the iPad to sell for when new ones come out? Any other options I should consider?

I would look on Swappa

There is one that $30 cheaper but most are more.

Also, would anyone recommend a case that would also be cheaper that adding it would still let me stay under $600?

Best Buy has a 3-day sale running with $100 off all iPads. Looks like you could get one with a pencil in your budget.

In my opinion, I would wait on your purchase, as new iPads are rumored to debut with in a week or so, if it happens, then you could see a drop in price for a newer model. As for price drop guesses, I would guess around a $100.00.

I got a 32GB iPad Pro 9.7" a year ago March 31st from Sprint for $529. And all I pay is $30 a month that was much easier to swallow than dropping $729 cash upfront and I have great credit and up to 10 lines on my account. All I did was order it click and they sent it not a dime upfront they even waived the activation fee.

How badly do you need pencil support. The Air 2 is still a great machine at a steal. Note taking can be done by voice, eg Apple notes + siri. Or recorder app. A normal stylus can draw crude diagrams.

There's no point to speculating what it will and won't have at this late juncture...just be patient.

I have an ipad2 as well so I know how ready you are to buy. :)
