Which is more important to have in a Maps application?

You seriously believe Google will ditch it's iOS Maps App? God, i cant believe you guys. They will of course still make a Maps App for iOS, even when it is not the default one. Thus everyone will have Streetview and Free Turn by Turn navigation.

Are we sure Google would do this? Why would they want to give iOS users the best of both worlds? Wouldn't it be better for them not to make an iOS app and use that as a selling point for a "better" maps experience on Android devices? I hope this is the case though, or at least that we will be able to fully access Google Maps via Safari.

While the two are not comparable in functionality at all, I'd say having street view available somehow on iOS is more important because it's unique and important to some people, while turn by turn has been available in apps such as Navigon, Tom-Tom etc since the 3G... in fact I still don't understand the excitement over this feature, if you really needed it, you'd already have it.

I think Street View is more important ... but I use public transportation exclusively, so I couldn't care less about Turn by Turn Navigation.

Both are available today - Why vote to limit one option or the other?

I want to keep both. A single integrated app would be best, but I use two apps on my 4S now to get both now plus off-line maps.

Street View is an incredibly useful feature. Not only can you see where you're going but you can zoom around and see where parking is available, nearby attactions, etc.

Turn by turn can be had from a plethora of available apps right now. I don't see how Apple dumping an inferior mapping solution on the iPhone improves the user experience. Flying around and seeing 3D rendered buildings might look cool but it's pretty useless. Apple should at the very least have their own version of street view.

Apple should have already been doing street view themselves all these years since they bought C3. They would have been done by now. Maybe they should crack into that $100B they have in the bank and really develop polished products instead of just hording money, releasing beta apps and suing people.

Apple has jumped the shark now that Jobsie is gone.

I can't tell if you're actually serious.

Google Maps uses (and has used) crowd-sourcing for traffic data, same that Apple is going to implement.

The Yelp data is an absolute JOKE compared to the listings in Google Maps. As I said earlier, couldn't find 40% of the places I was looking for doing a quick comparison between iOS 6 and iOS 5.

So have you used the final release of iOS 6? So Google is getting there traffic data from crowd soured iPhones? When you actually use IOS 6 non beta we will talk.

You do realize that from Beta --> Final release the software won't change much in that regard, right?

Google gets traffic data from crowd sourced Android devices (obviously).

how many actually knew street view was even there? it was a pita to use and so i'd much rather turn by turn!

Street view will probably return at some stage but for now i doubt its top of Apples priorities!

Turn by Turn. I never use Street Voice, and I use an Android Device (Until the next iPhone release)

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I think it matters a great deal where you are using Maps. In a city, particularly walk-able ones like New York or Boston, Street View is incredibly helpful. If you're in a place like Houston or LA, or most suburban/rural areas for that matters, where everyone drives everywhere, turn-by-turn is much more useful. The ideal would be to have both!

LOL is this a serious poll? Who (even the people who WANT Street View) would pick SV over Turn by Turn?

Flyover vs Street View would be a much better comparison.

Beta != lacking features

Beta == Bug fixing.

Anyone that actually knows how to use their phone?

I know how to use my phone. I know a lot of people who know how to use their iPhone and have never found street view in the maps app.

I know Apple store employees who can tell you everything about the iPhone and have iOS 6 installed and write apps but didn't know Maps had street view.

Street View is one of those features that's really hidden deep inside.

I've never found any use of Street View and I still don't.

Anyone that really needed turn by turn would already have bought an app like sygic to provide it. Apple is too late to the game this time.

street view is far superior to any satellite view maps when looking up addresses. There just isn't enough detail on satellite view.

Maybe, but you can easily see your destination in satellite view. I've yet to see a time where Street View offers a giant leap in the actual location of your destination since Street View was introduced.

It may be different depending on where you live but here in rural countryside in the UK, satellite view is useless for finding parking spaces when going to new addresses.

With streetview I can zoom up and down the road and spot places before I get there.

Street view is great for finding the exact house too as you can see its house number.

Sattellite view is useless for that, most houses are just a blur and you can't see housenumbers

Maybe it works in the UK, but I've yet to find any neighborhood in my area that has full street view, so it's useless to me, and I can see all the houses just fine.

Which is more important? Turn by Turn Navigation or Street View?

It depends on how high of a resolution Apple's flyover will have. Theoretically, if flyover can get close enough to a store front, it can replace Streetview. I don't need to see what the shop is selling in the window, I want to see what the building I'm trying to get to looks like and a high resolution Flyover will do just that.
