Yeah i'd like to be able to enable or disable auto correct, and change the words in the dictionary.

I typed in "i'll see you sooon" once, and it came out as "i'll see you zooplankton".

:D:D:D:D:D:D

how the HECK does it get "zooplankton" out of SOOON" ?????????

I think some 16yr old kid put the replacement words in for auto correct sometimes.

It'd be nice to have natively. I sacrificed spell check to get rid of autocorrect. According to Apple, "hell" is not a word and will always change to "he'll" - that got old so quick. I'm a great speller, so it was a worthwhile sacrifice.

well seeing as this guy pulled this thread out of the dust, for anyone that still doesn't know these 2 features are now separated under settings > general > keyboard = auto-correction / check spelling

Autocorrect voice

Go to your general setting, accessibility and turn off speak auto text, it should work.

just wonder why apple does not allow this option.

Auto correct annoys me. But i still want to keep the spell checker.

So why does apple disable spell checker if you disable auto correct. You can't keep the spell checker option if you turn off the auto correct.

Seems to me like apple should let you have this option.

lol. After the first few times autocorrect does pick up though and stops correcting things...kinda

Are you referring to the difference between American and International English? I thought you could configure that in preferences. And auto-correct does learn. I've found that with some teaching it'll learn to work around most any repeated annoyance.

Don't you mean US English and ENGLISH English? (we invented it)
