I have iphone 5 and installed facebook.

It working as a background app on the ios so when i receive messege from my facebook contacts immediatelly it shows up on lock screen thus reducing battery life.

I still want to use facebook app but i want to use it manually, i chat with fellas on facebook but this is when i manually run the software. I want to turn it off fully when i am not using it.

How to do this ?

Also i am having poor battery life with my iphone 5 even though i switched of all services

Notifications have 4 settings.

1. In notification center or not. Notification is seen when you swipe from the top of the screen downward.

2. Alert style. None, banner, or alerts (screen pop up)

3. Badge app icon (shows number of notification on app icon.

4. Sounds on/off

Also if you have Messenger for Facebook messages, which is just for Facebook messages, it has its own setting under notifications as well.
