I’m wondering if there’s a way to turn off or better yet just mute a HomePod (like you can with an Echo) during certain hours?

My HomePod mini will randomly respond to the TV — or just because it feels like it at weird hours.

Try this:
Home App > + button at the top right > add automation > a time of day occurs > select the times/days you want this to occur > select the HomePods in the list > under media, select audio > select adjust volume only > set custom volume > turn the slider all the way down > go back > hit done.

You will also have to create another automation using the above steps to turn the volume back up at a selected time.

Stumpy’s suggestion is good too as it will reboot the HomePods when power is removed and re-added. The heavens know these things need rebooting often.

Seriously? So not only have to endure HomeKit automation switching hubs for no reason, they just randomly turn on at all hours?

In its current state, why would anyone want a Home Pod?

They don't randomly just turn on. They are never turned off in the first place. They just sit idle.

Oh yes... hence the "Paused" status.

However, I was referring to this... (but now I realized this was presumably a false "Hey Siri" trigger, but what is the "just because it feels like it" trigger?)

I wish I could say it was because the TV was on or something but it has literally just said some random **** with nothing on and no one speaking. One time it talked about the nature of the universe or something.
