looking for a way to turn Plex media server off without using activity monitor to quit the processes

I suppose I could write a script and make an Alfred workflow but wanted to see if there is already a way to go about the that I haven't figured out

cheers

I take it you want to make sure others can't remotely access the server? If so...

Log into your account > Settings > Remote Access > Make sure it is toggled off.

no actually

what I want to do is quit the services so that the machine can sleep

that does not do it as all the services remaining running, preventing the machine from sleeping

If I remember correctly, ( I use a NAS now with Plex) there is no way to do that in the Mac app. What I always did was just turn off the screen when I wasn't using the Mac. In this day and age, there really is no real need to put a Mac to sleep, in my opinion.

generally I agree

in the case of this machine it is the device plugged in to the control plug of an automatic switching power bar. so when the machine goes to sleep studio monitors and audio interfaces and other such things power down

it's an idiosyncratic setup to be sure

it's doubling as a Plex server temporarily while I figure out what to replace a 2012 mini with that is finally starting to give up after running nearly non stop for almost 10 years

Just quit the app and the server will stop running.

Thanks y’all

I see why I couldn’t figure it out now. I didn’t have a dock icon. And the menu bar icon was in the always hidden part of my menu bar so I forgot it existed

I had only been searching around the web interface for a way to quit

Feel pretty dumb now!

Honestly the 'active' (ergo normal) dock icon thing is a bit janky. Should be on by default really.
