I am waiting to see how long it takes for the burn in posts to start. I suspect not very long.
Androids have had this feature for years.
But I found this...

Note: The AOD feature will not cause screen burn-in. This is automatically prevented on phones because the AOD image is slightly repositioned on the screen over time.

It just feels wasteful, and a little weird, to have your lock screen always visible, even when you're away. Feels like it invites too much attention.
My wife turned it off within an hour of having the iPhone.

I think other companies do always-on display better – just a subtle greyscale clock in the corner, and a battery % stat.

Because the screen is really always on as normal just turn to dim so it still can show beautiful photo whatever, while android AOD is really just use low power mode with basic graphic and mainly turn off major parts of screen to be black and save power.

Just like island, they make the notch lower so they can put the display above the notch to help them sell you the iPhone, then you will find out the notch is lower and your effective area is smaller after you are using it for awhile and cannot return it.

What does the "always on" screen show? All notifications and widgets? Or does it have a smaller amount of items displayed?

Also is there any way to program it to be on at certain times, or only while being charged? I think that would be useful, as I too worry about having it on at absolutely all times.

I will likely wait on the 14p until a deal comes out, but the only thing that intrigued me is always on display... if it is not customizable I might just sit this one out.

Turned it off. Kept it on for a day just to see if I like it. It doesn't serve me any purpose. I have a folio case, so the screen is always covered.

Tried it for a day and turned it off. Causes unnecessary stress in that it’s another device constantly shining at you. I feel like I have enough distractions in life as it is.

I had mine on for the first day or two then turned it off. Since my phone is face down most of the time anyway, it was kinda of pointless to have on.
