Hello, using the Processor preference pane (optional install with xCode) it allwos me to disable CPU2. My question is, will that hurt my processor? Will it give me longer battery life.

This is on a Late 08 MBP 2.4ghz

It won't hurt anything but your computers performance. As far as battery life you may see a slight gain but the Intel Core 2 Duo processors (starting with the Santa Rosa platform and especially with Penryn processors and going forward) actually power down cores depending on the requirements of the tasks being executed.
