Turning Off Preview for Folder Icons?

Is there a way to turn off the desktop and folder icons for document, photo, and movie files from previewing its contents?

It seems forever for my MBP to load when starting it up....it's very annoying 🙁

Hi,

in Finder go to View > Show View Options (command-J) and turn off show icon preview.
