BBC have just pushed an iPlayer update out which supports the TV app.
ios only, not TVOS?

Possibly different release notes will be available on the tvOS update (that’s if it has been updated, I’m not in a position to check right now).ios only, not TVOS?

Good spot thanks for that.
So its looking like the TV app functionality is pretty imminent then.
Such a shame about Netflix's hold out on the most useful functionality of the service.
It would be ideal if we had full participation in the UK from BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, UKTV, Sky (via Now TV), Amazon Prime and Netflix.
Seems to me that we will be missing Netflix, Channel 4, UKTV, and Sky. As Ive said before its a fantastic idea, and essential in the current streaming climate, but until they all do then its only of limited value.
Lets hope that as its rolled out to all UK iOS devices that demand will grow and the holdouts will soon fully integrate.
I have the ITV hub app on my Apple TV 4K box in the UK

The purchased tab has been broken for a lot of people since the latest update. Hopefully Apple fixes it soon. Will have to check again, wasn't there when I checked the TV App Store this morning but my store wasn't working properly, couldn't access the purchased tab.
I am trying once again to get rid of Sky, which is scandalously expensive for what I actually get out of it.
So yesterday I took delivery of an AppleTV, having sent my original one back when they first came out a couple (?) of years ago.
It doesn’t look like a whole lot has changed. The BBC app is HD, but not particularly easy to use or well-designed. The NowTV app is HD-ish and is bloody awful to use. The ITV app doesn’t appear to be HD, and the My5 app is buggy and keeps crashing. Netflix is fine (and HD) and the Amazon app looks OK.
I thought the point of AppleTV was to make all this work seamlessly together and make watching TV really easy. Sadly it’s really not.
Oddly, I find it difficult not to have a schedule to follow. I have to actively think to myself, “what do I want to watch” — and I have all those apps to trawl through to find something. Historically for me, Netflix and BBC iPlayer are almost always the winners.
Really glad we have it as far as im concerned; theres a limit to what you can aggregate dependant on who will play ball, and i think its a fairly decent stab at the problem. Compare it to freesat or freeplay, isnt it better?
If youre saying you want individual programme access without the dependant apps, that would be awesome but surely unlikely in the current broadcast climate?
As far as the uk is concerned the recent additions (tv app, itv hub, my 5) have almost put the atv where it should have been at launch of gen 4.
TV app is cool. Would be nice to have netflix in there but it's up to Netflix to support it or not, so we'll see. That said, what the hell with the button change, Apple? Now if I know I wanna go back to the home screen, I press the button twice. But do it a second too fast and it brings up multitasking. Same button, different functions depending on where you are in the OS. Horrid choice just to force users to pass through the app.
