I upgraded to an iphone 7 plus when it came out and noticed that it had replaced the video app with the tv app. I purchased and downloaded a tv series from iTunes hoping to watch on a flight to and from Shanghai (14hrs each way). It worked before I left but when the plane was in flight nothing in the app would load, apparently you need to be connected to wifi. The whole point of using the app was to be able to watch the show offline. Is this really the way it works? How do you download and watch a show or movie from iTunes when not connected to the internet?

I use the TV app to watch my downloaded shows offline in airplane mode. Are you certain you downloaded to the phone?
The cloud icon will not appear next to a downloaded file.

You go into the library section of the TV App. Recently purchased shows or movies will appear there. Tap on what you want to download the tap the cloud icon with the down arrow to download into your device.

When you purchase a TV show or Movie its initially in iCloud.

Mine says downloaded in a blue button when I open the show. There's no cloud next to any of the episodes, even ones I haven't watched yet. I watched them download before the trip. I'm pretty sure they all downloaded.

So this works offline for others?
