I have a couple of questions about the upcoming TV App...

1) Is there a list of what TV Everywhere apps are supported?

2) I would prefer not to see iTunes content mixed in on the Watch Now screen with the "free" items from networks, Hulu, things I'm already paying for, etc... can this be excluded?

I can tell you what's installed on my ATV that are connected to the TV app:
ABC, Animal Planet Go, Apple Music, CBS, CW Seed, Discovery Go, HBO Now, History, Hulu, SCI Go, Showtime, Starz, The CW. There are undoubtedly others, but those are just what I currently have installed. More and more apps will support the TV app soon since all of those companies want eyes on their commercials.

What iTunes content are you concerned about? On the Watch Now screen I see video content that is available in apps that I have installed, as well as items I have purchased from the iTunes Store. For example, in the Movie Spotlight section I see "The Hateful Eight." When I select that movie I see it is available to watch on Showtime and from the iTunes Store. So I can go directly to the Showtime app if I want.

Yes, Apple wants us to use the iTunes Store, but it is not in your face on the Watch Now screen.

The iTunes content I'm mainly concerned with is the Watch Now screen having entries for items for purchase. I don't want to see something, click on it, and find the ONLY way I can watch it is to buy or rent it, for example.

If the streaming provider you use does not support the TV app, then iTunes will be the default. Apple wants all streaming providers to support the TV app and has enticed them by halving the in-app purchase percentage. It is really up to the networks/streaming providers to support it.

The majority of the "tv everywhere" apps are not commercial free so it is in the best interest of the owner of the apps to support the TV app to get as many eyes as possible on their commercials.

Ok, thanks all. Since the new release dropped today I can see how this works for myself a bit better.

I do have a third question now though.... is there any way to tell the TV app that you've already watched an episode of something? It doesn't seem to pull this info itself (such as from Hulu) when you add something to Up Next.

Wake me when there's Plex, HBO Go and Netflix.

HBO supports the TV app. Netflix will not.

There's no easy way to do this that I've found. The only way I've found to do this is to go into the appropriate app and "watch" the episode by scrubbing to the end.

Interesting. I did not realize HBO Go did not support the TV app yet. Kind of dumb on the part of Time Warner, I think.

I don't think it's the provider. I think it is because Time Warner has not updated the HBO Go app to support the TV app, while they have for the HBO Now app. Which, as I said above, I think is kind of dumb on their part. Or maybe they just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I could not figure out how to do it. So for me the TV App is pretty limited. I have been using the WatchAid App which is great for TV Series. Supports pretty much everything that i watch from all services. I did find a missing show and emailed them to get it added. No movies and no recommendations. Just a way to manage the TV Series. For movies the TV App might be an option for me but for TV Series it has a long way to go to match WatchAid. The Universal Watch List is based on the the iCloud Login (not the iTunes as the TV App uses). For my family the iCloud ID is much better.

WatchAid is FREE to try and you can donate if you like it (on the iPad version). I love it and have donated.

I agree. They added picture-in-picture support to the HBO Now app a couple months before they got around to adding it to the HBO Go app.
