I have discovered some new and helpful features but so far there is not much new. The helpful feature is when you play a movie more helpful info is on the screen such as what year the movie was made, playback time, and other things. Like I am watching Twilight Zone and it will tell me what season and what episode I am playing. Helpful. Anyone discovered anymore features?

In the Movies app the swipe down info bar is now at the bottom and looks just like the ATV app does with the From Beginning tab, then by swiping up after you’ve swiped down gives further options such as Chapters and Audio options.
And the ATV app info bar is now a swipe down as opposed to pressing the back/menu button.

Try holding the TV button on the remote to bring up the new control panel.
That control panel has been there since tvOS 13, it’s just got a couple of extra icons than before.

I agree, nothing really new about the lame Control panel.

I installed tvOS 15 yesterday afternoon as soon as it was released and used it for several hours until I went to bed last night. I really don't see much that has changed. That is probably a good thing considering how gosh awful iPadOS 15 is now with the screwed up Home pages that waste space and look terrible and the screwed up new interface on Safari that causes you to have to make multiple gestures/presses to open the sidebar and navigate to where you were and multiple gestures/presses to close the sidebar. From now on, I wish Apple would concentrate only on squashing bugs and stop changing the interfaces to the point of making them nearly unnavigable. iPadOS 15 is a big mess, and I wish I hadn't installed it. But thankfully tvOS 15 and iOS 15 seem okay. None of them have much new to offer though.

I did have a few minutes of weirdness with the new 2021 remote after updating my ATV 4K 2017 to tvOS 15. The remote refused to work at all for a few minutes, so I restarted the ATV 4K and slowly but surely the remote's functionality returned. I did notice that it had been set to use the trackpad as well as click, which is not how it was set prior to the update. My guess is that once the tvOS upgrade finishes, a separate (apparently hidden) update for the remote takes place. So perhaps the ATV 4K updated then I had to wait a few minutes for the remote to update as well. My Fire TV Cube does something similar when it updates. Apple should make it clear that the remote is updating though so we know what is going on.

I disagree. I think iPadOS 15 is a huge improvement and yes I prefer the widgets on the front page. Safari is nicer.

To each their own, as they say. But I found the interface to Safari to be a colossal mess, and the same for the new widget fiasco in the Home pages. It was so horrible that I downgraded to iPadOS 14.8 his morning. I had never had to downgrade any OS before, but IMO iPadOS 15 is just horrible. The interface changes look incredibly bad, and they create a lot more steps thus virtually making the use of nested bookmarks within the sidebar useless.

I disagree!!!!! But you do what is best for you. Once I preferred iPhoto or photos. I stayed with it as long as I could but eventually I had to change and move to photos.

I wish they would allow us to pick a few we would like to watch rather just push whatever they want to out to our screens. Yes I know you can select which categories to see, but not individual ones. Most are okay, but a few really stand out, and those don’t stick around long before they shuffle in different ones.

There’s 16 new aerial screensavers,
The new aerials include Patagonia, Yosemite National Park and the Grand Canyon.
You can view all the screensavers in the link below.

Ah! I see. I guess I have been seeing. Many of them are so similar I hadn’t noticed.

Completely agree! Do we really need 3 similar jelly fish scenes (1 of which is a standout)? I would actually rather choose 1 stand out than cycle through a few standouts and a bunch of ok ones. Some of them are truly spectacular; especially on a rainy day working from home.

I wish we could arrange items in the itunes apps manually, maybe put the films into folders to speed up navigation ?

Ive got 500 movies and going through them is a nightmare 😆

Also I recall a few years ago there was a separate list of 4K / hdr movies in the purchased list .. seems to have gone now ?

I have to say I am growing to like the ATV control center app on the iPhone with iOS 15. Other than not having a swipe feature, it is pretty handy. The other thing I noticed is that when you’re running the Remote through the control center on iPhone, if your phone goes to sleep and then you tap on the phone to see your lock screen, there are mini controls for the ATV situated there. Similar to the controls that you see there when you’re listening to Apple Music or some streaming app. It comes in pretty handy if your phone goes to sleep while you’re watching some thing. I’ll see if I can post a picture next time I am using that feature.

Yep. The standalone app did this also.

I’m almost definitely probably sure I’ve found a bug. 😉

As far as I can tell it’s a tvOS 15.0 issue.

When I play an Apple Music track in Dolby Atmos (Spatial Audio) it only plays out of the front-left and subwoofer channel. My surround sound is a simple but solid six channel setup that has not had this problem before the new OS. Before and after my temporary fix below the audio/video receiver (AVR) shows the Apple TV outputting a 5.1 signal.

To fix the audio I just need to restart or seek within the track using the fast forward, playhead, or timed-lyrics functions. The issue reoccurs immediately when the next Dolby Atmos track begins.

Edited for clarity and additional details.

Do you have the Reduce Loud Sounds feature enabled? When I have that enabled, tvOS 15 is causing Atmos content to only come out of the left channel of my sound bar. I reported the bug to Apple.

I don’t but thanks for the suggestion. I hope they work that out too!
