I thought there was an easy way to connect any W1 device to tv os 11? I'm not seeing anything new. As far as I can tell, it works exactly like it used to, you have to tell the Siri remote connect to AirPods.

Apparently what changed was that you don't need now to pair the Airpods with the Apple TV (by putting them back in the charger case and pressing the button in the back) if they are already paired elsewhere (in another device) using the same Apple-ID.

The only thing you need now is hit CONNECT since they will automatically appear in the list of BT devices.

Don't appear in mine though. Maybe have to wait a day or two?

Or you could do this:
https://www.cultofmac.com/460767/resetting-airpods-fix-battery-drain/

Reset to factory settings, and at the same time hit UNPAIR/DISCONNECT in the ATV and disconnect/forget the Airpods in all your devices.

Then once you connect the Airpods again in, say, the iPhone, the ATV which uses the same Apple-ID will show the Airpods are already there. If you want to use in the ATV you only need to hit CONNECT in settings.

I believe I noticed yesterday in tvOS 11, if you hold down the play button on the remote, it brings up a list of devices you can play the audio through. I imagine if you have the AirPods connected to your Apple ID, it will show up in that list.

Ok this awesome and extremely helpful!!! BUT. You have to hold down play while on the Menu screen. I had a video podcast playing and holding down play did nothing. So then I exited everything and went to the main Apple TV screen, held down play, and boom I could connect to headphones!!! Yay!

Click the microphone and say "connect AirPods" it will take you to the settings page but won't connect them. Super annoying.
