Hi All,

So, with the release of tvOS 13, I was hoping that multi-user support was going to include game saves since Apple Arcade was also being released with it. This way, if my Daughter wanted to switch to her account, she could play Apple Arcade games and it would save to her own Apple ID and it wouldn't mess with my own game saves. This release has come...and thats far from the concept apparently.

I'm aware you can switch between Game Center ID's, however this function doesn't seem to operate like we would think. It's like it creates a new "Save slot" on the primary iCloud account. For example, I believe if I added her Apple ID to the Game Center login slot, but leave my Apple ID in the iCloud spot, it was certainly save her games separately of mine. However, if she went back to her iPad, but game saves would not be there at all because her iPad is setup like you would expect, with 'her Apple ID / her Game Center ID" as opposed to 'my Apple ID / her Game Center ID' - Make sense?

Only other way I am seeing to make this easy is to buy another Apple TV and make it the 'kid' Apple TV with only her Apple ID on it so it doesn't conflict with my Apple ID's game saves. This seems like a massive oversight..

Am I missing something? Anybody have an ideas that may assist me? :(

You are not alone. My son and I were discussing this as well. My grandson is a avid gamer at 7 years old. Apple can not seem to figure out how to program multiuser support. We simply do not understand how they can be this BAD. Only guess is this is by design. You have to buy each person their own Apple TV per TV. And don't get me start on the Apple TV App. So poorly designed. Do these people not use any of the other streaming apps?

I'm glad I'm not alone at least. You are right though...its like they had NO clue, despite Apple Arcade being released with it and family members would of COURSE want to play as well.

I'm gonna wait till end of Oct. See if they release a new Apple TV...maybe upgrade to that then keep my old HD one as the "kid" Apple TV for gaming.

What a mess man.

Yikes! This doesn’t seem right,

”If you share your Apple TV with someone else, sign in to your iCloud and Game Center accounts before you play your Apple Arcade game.

On Apple TV, you also have to manually sign out of Game Center and sign in to your account when you switch users:

  1. Make sure that you're signed in with the same Apple ID that you use with Apple Arcade.
  2. Open the Settings app, then select Users and Accounts. Make sure that you're signed in to iCloud and Game Center with the correct Apple ID.”

Same problems here.

This is so ridiculous - how could they not have figured this out already?

There’s no way they expect more than one Apple TV per TV. A family of 5 is not going to have 5 Apple TV’s attached to each of their TVs so that each member can have their own experience, settings, etc.

Yet, they clearly seem inept in figuring out multi-user on Apple TV. Hope they get this fixed ASAP!!

Agreed, I was really surprised at this. Multiple users only works for TV and Music libraries, nothing else.

I imagine this is something that will be updated later, hopefully in a minor release, so we don’t have to wait until next year.

Very disappointing if you ask me.

Just wanted to add my voice to this chorus as well. This is perhaps the dumbest thing I've heard from Apple in some time, and these days that's really saying something.

So it’s not just me. It’s ridiculous that my kids can’t play Apple Arcade games. What the heck is Apple doing?
