Since updating to tvOS 14.7 I completely lost access to any 4K resolution setting. I’m stuck with 1080p. Anyone else also experiencing this?

Edit: And 1080p/HDR is completely broken because it’s really grayish and washed out.

All fine here with the 1st Gen.
Have you tried a restart?

My ATV 4K 1st gen is fine after updating to 14.7. Maybe you have some option turned on/off and it is causing the issue. Apple’s tvOS resolution and dynamic rate settings are rather confusing, so no telling what happened in your case. If all else fails, go through the setup procedures again to make sure the ATV is properly pairing with your TV.

Have you tried running the Check HDMI Connection tool?
That tool doesn’t seem to be available when 1080p is selected.

I didn’t make any changes. And I even reset the video settings on the Apple TV. Still, every 4K option is gone now and 1080p/HDR is completely bugged visually. 1080p/SDR is fine luckily.

Perhaps the issue is at the TV end, have you tried a different HDMI input just to rule it out.

I will test it tomorrow. But it would be a huge coincidence since I didn't have this issue for years. It just suddenly appeared after the update.

It might have gotten sidetracked during the install. After the tvOS 14.7 update installed on my ATV 4K 1st gen, I turned on the ATV but the new gen 2 Siri remote wouldn’t work. At first I thought I had come across a major bug. But after a few minutes the remote started working. I think something hadn’t fully installed but after a few minutes managed to finally fully install. So far 14.7 is running fine. However, I really don’t see anything new in it. It probably addressed some bugs though.

the aTV and TV talk a bit, to figure out what resolutions the TV can handle. So you don't see 4k options if the TV only does 1080. It's also how the aTV figures out which model of TV you have, so it knows which commands to send to the remote if you're using IR to control the volume.

sometimes that handshake just gets a bit off, normally unplugging and replugging the HDMI cable will fix it, as it causes them to handshake again. I'm not sure if a soft restart causes it to re-handshake or not.

I updated my ATV4K a about 30 minutes ago not at 14.7 (18M60) sound still works for YT, netflix, Amazon, HDR and Dolby Vision works, but then again I've got everything hooked up to to my Pioneer VSX-933 running the latest firmware, my tv is also running the latest fw. I'm not saying this is everybodys experience with the update but for people woth issues is might be advantageous to check the rest of the chain, and if nothing helps we'll just have to hope apple comes with a swift update. On a side note tho the 14.7 update did not show up for me on Monday or yesterday, so maybe somthing was pushed last nite
