So for the first time since I think April, Google final updated the Youtube app. First thing I check was whether or not YouTube final streams 4K. Unfortunately it still only maxes out at 1080p. Which is very frustrating. No other changes seem to be made. Sound seemed a bit better. Looks to be that anything based off of iOS(iPadOS and tvOS) will not show 4K option. My iPhone 11 Pro does show 4K if it's mastered in HDR like
.

macOS Big Sur seems to run everything in 4K perfectly. Prior iOS/iPadOS betas allowed for 4K on YouTube fine. But got pulled at launch. Not sure if this is a google thing on the back end detecting Apple devices and not pushing 4K or what. Hopefully continued pressure will be put on Apple and Google to final get 4K working on what is most likely the best 4K viewing(your TV).

I also tried it, and replied to other topics

Yeah, still no 4K. I tested with a video that plays at 4K on my Sony's Android TV. And it's still the (very) old, ugly Apple TV interface. Hopefully they are working on a major update with the latest UI (which is much more usable) and the 4K support. As it is now on Apple TV it's a piece of junk.

I wonder if they at least fixed that bug where you can't seek sometimes and have to kill the app (double-tap and swipe up) to fix it.
