I was referencing how the two different UIs was just like windows vista with a basic and ultimate version: one with glassy UI and the other without.

Pulled out an old ATV 4k (Siri remote) from storage. It’s still on mid tvos13. Keeps trying to update to a newer version of tvos13 and fails (no longer signed). Any way to force it to see the latest tvOS?

Try this: Settings → System → Reset → Reset and Update

It may show Restore instead, but it’s the same, just different wording. Restore connects to the servers to update to latest signed version hopefully.

If that doesn’t work you will need to take it to an Apple Store or authorized service provider so they can reflash the software with their DFU tools.

Thank you. None of that had worked, but weirdly today was a different matter.

I decided to just give it another go (I had been trying everything a few weeks ago to no joy), and it updates.

Standard Settings update. Maybe Apple temporarily signed 13.4.8 again?

It updated fine to 13.4.8, brought me back to the Home Screen, and is now updating to 26 as we speak.

Not having jittery issues. But some apps have severe audio delay issues, especially after an ad plays mid-stream.

Netflix app has an audio delay issue when audio is played through HomePod mini speaker, in tvOS26. But no other app I have installed has the problem (Disney, iPlayer etc), nor does movies I have bought from the store. Just Netflix!

No audio delay if the sound is played through the TV speakers, only through HomePod mini, and yes I have applied the HomePod mini update.

If you open YouTube app and look at your search history it really slows down. Even after resetting history.

I have the ATV 2nd Gen., I think, from 2021 with 64 GB and Ethernet.
Told me TV OS 18x was current.
Had to turn off updates automatically and Beta, then TV OS 26 was able to install.
Just in case someone else has this issue.
The new look is kind of nice.
I wish the Peanuts screensaver had Peanuts music.

Performance on the third GEN Apple TV is fine. The second GEN is really not that great especially with Siri.
