Considering it’s missing the main new features that are exclusive to the newest models is tvOS 26 worth it for Apple TV HD? Have you guys noticed performance improvements or issues with Apple TV HD introduced with this latest upgrade? Thx

What do you mean by worth it? It’s a free update.

I mean is it worth downloading. Like I said, does it improve or worsens performance based on your experience

As above. I can almost guarantee that there will be security updates that haven't been mentioned in any change log. So I would update for sure. But don't expect many 'wizz-bang' new features.

For me, even with my Apple TV 4K [x2], this update is underwhelming at best.

I cannot comment if the update will affect your devices performance but on my devices I haven't noticed any difference.

Do you also an Apple TV HD besides the 4K one? Thx

I have two Apple TV HD's, both are set to auto-update but both are still on TVOS 18.6, even though I just re-booted one of them this morning to clear a glitch with the Sling app. In the past, it seems like a long time after the release of a new TVOS before they auto-update.

Fine with me, they are doing all I need as-is. Hopefully 26 won't break anything when (if?) they auto-update. One of these days I will replace both of these but don't see any reason yet. My needs are very basic, streaming with Sling and the computers app to access my own large library on a Mini that I use as a server.

I just installed tvOS 26 on a HD box. Boot time and app loading times seem the same. I only really use it with Fitness+ and YouTube but the apps seem to function the same as before. The box still has the same annoyances such as inconsistent volume control and inconsistent powering down of the TV.
