tvOS on Apple TV 2/3

I doubt it. I think I'm going to order a refurb ATV3 direct from Apple just to let them know what I think of the new ATV.

I'm sure they'll be so upset.

What's wrong with the new one? It will be much better than my ATV3.

I agree also, want the new aTV with a true Plex app and the ac wireless. Expecting to hear soon the app is on the way. When it debuts and has been reviewed positively I will jump in, but not before. Hey, the aTV3 and Plexconnect are running today so no rush...

Because, why should I pay the minimum $149 just to get the same functionality that I already have in my current ATV? I don't play games and I don't care about Apple Music. What else is there besides the updated interface? Is that worth $149?

Apps? I don't care about apps on my TV. My Smart TV has apps and I've never installed any in the one year I've had the TV.

The HTML5 plugin thingies for netflix/hulu etc and more could become obsolete in a year or two and stop functioning.

So you pay $69 now. Then pay $100 or so in the future for a discounted, refurb, or used AppleTV4 so you have appstore and access to updated apps. And then you've paid more than now and Apple laughs to the bank.

I hope they put out an update for the the Apple TV 3 - pretty rubbish for those of us who have bought them if there is no update. Hopefully a skin + a few new features (obviously not Siri and apps though).

doesn't the ATV3 have 8GB of flash storage? with a 200MB app limit for the ATV app store I don't see why the ATV3 couldn't handle it

How much of that 8GB is used for the base OS and streaming buffering?

Apple said they put an A8 processor in the new ATV. The old ones certainly didn't have a CPU that beefy.

I'm sure there's going to be an update to unify the OS look and add Apple Music. Especially since they will continue to sell the device, they need to keep a unified interface. I'm guessing it will either update when iOS 9 releases or when the ATV4 starts shipping.

... No app store makes sense, as ATV3 has no hard drive. ...

Actually, it has 8GBs of on-board storage, but that is needed for the iOS/Apps as well as video caching.
