The new Samsung smart remotes do not have a separately red button...
The new one remote has a “universal color button” (top left). Not sure how if it’s configurable for the purpose though since you have to hit it multiple times. The new Samsung smart remotes do not have a separately red button...
What were they thinking.....
Now I have to modify my Logitech Harmony activity as well.. while it is possible, because Logitech is not planning on supporting Hub based remotes in their upcoming 64-bits Harmony app.
This worked beautifully, thank you!!!For anyone this helps with a Harmony remote. I just played with it for like 30 minutes to figure out how to get it working right again...
harmony app -> select your hub -> edit activity -> edit start sequence -> add a step -> device:Apple TV -> command:Home-> save settings
This puts the remote in Apple TV mode and once it does that the hub will automatically send the command to press the home button. So you won't need to do anything manually once this is setup.
This is deliberate. I much prefer it, I used to accidentally wake my tv all the time.
Yes! Was having issues since the update to 13 and my Samsung stopped turning the ATV on. Forgot about this so I'll give it an update later todayYou're missing the point here. On your Apple TV you need to get to "Learn Remote". Then you specify what buttons on your TV remote correspond to the Apple Remote. You don't configure the TV remote, you configure the Apple TV to recognize certain buttons on the remote.
Use other remotes to control Apple TV

They made it so only the Home key will power it up.

I haven't had that issue myself. It seems to take a bit longer to actually shut off, but after (maybe 15 seconds?) it shuts down. This works well but the only problem is that now powering off with the harmony won't put the Apple TV to sleep. Anyone figured that one out yet?
Uh.... you mean do this once or every time? I still have to either reboot the ATV 4K sometimes or other times it never goes to sleep.Samsung users - mine started working again after turning CEC off then on again on the TV, then when you switch to the ATV HDMI source, wait for the 'No Source' screen to appear then press Back on the Samsung remote. The ATV now turns on as it used to
Turned CEC off only once. Waking the ATV process is the same each time.Discovered this myself also. No way this could be in the release notes or something, huh? Jeez.

If I leave the TV on, it all works but I need to wait for TV sleep timeout. What a mess
Sorry to answer this so late, but after almost a couple months I was trying to solve this "problem" as well... I am not happy with the change, specially cause I use the Samsung SmartTV remote as the universal remote (u really don't need anything else). Since the MENU button on the AppleTV remote is the one that wakes it up, I figured the bottom that replaces it in the Samsung remote will do the work, and indeed... the Back arrow (in my case) wakes it up. I still hate that AppleTV doesn't wake up on its own once u switch the input to the correspondent SmartTV HDMI port... but at least I don't need to hang on to the AppleTV remote...The new Samsung smart remotes do not have a separately red button...
Indeed... cause the Back on the Samsung SmartTV Remote makes for the "menu" button of the AppleTV (it figures)... But the point is the AppleTV does not wake up on its own when u pick the HDMI source as it used to do. I was saying that at least with the Back button I don't even need to grab the AppleTV remote anymore...
