I've been looking for some way to browse the web with Apple TV (without jailbreaking). Specifically, I wanted some way to show twitter / RSS feeds on my TV. Erica Sadun is apparently working on a desktop solution, but no updates for a while.

I just noticed TVout Genie for iOS added Airplay support today (not yet on the featured Airplay collection in iTunes).

Anyone tried this app? Looks promising. Also displays maps, documents and photos.

Now I just need some websites that will look good on my TV from across the room...

    I bought this app

    Airplay works great

The web page looks just how it does on your iphone , if you zoom in you will zoom in on the the tv

The web browser only has a url tab no google search tab , so to go home u mist type on the url tab

Theres a < > button on the web browser also

    The camera:

Camera is not live theres a second or 2 delay from the iphone to the tv

So if you move your iphone around with the camera open you will get frame by frame fading out

Also in camera i dont see a button to take pictures , i think this just shows what ever your lookin at on the iphone camera to the tv doesnt record or take pics

    I might be wrong

    Maps is pretty limited

You cant view it in satellite or hybrid & theres no driving directions

This map just shows the location you enter

Notes works ok as you type some thing you will see it on the tv almost live , you email what ever you type

Documents: have not tried this one,

This app was worth the money just for the web browser alone

I wish apple would allow airplay on safari

    Dont sleep on this app

You can view the internet on your tv

Without a computer or being jailbroken

    All via airplay

Yeah browser bookmarks would be helpful. And I think other AirPlay apps keep broadcasting video even after the iPad screen goes dark -- but this doesn't happen with TVout Genie.

I need more mobile-safari-compatible sites with nice screen-saver like videos, or RSS / twitter displays that are visible from 10 feet or more. Like or Google Reader's Play feature.

The iPad version doesn't have a camera feature (which is too bad!)

Notes has potential but something more like WhiteBoard with Airplay would be ideal

still, a great little app. Very pleased.

i looked at the app and need to know if you can watch movies on the tv using browser? i can watch movies on my phone using a private server but not on apple tv. i had the dexim av dock and it worked great but not atv :(

i just click on the link in safari and the movie starts playing. in a few min. with atv i only get audio, no video.

try clicking on this link and see if the video plays on the TV.

it takes 3 or 4 min for the movie to load.

    Just use the Airplayerjs bookmarklet:

...just tested it with your video & it does successfully enable video AirPlay to ATV2. It did seem to take a bit to load (even longer than just playing on the iPad) but once it got going it seemed fine.

Once the bookmarklet is installed, click on the link to the video, then select the bookmarklet. You will notice that Safari doesn't seem to be doing anything - no spinning wheel and no "loading" at the top but just wait. In a few minutes the vid starts playing (on the iPad). You can then select the Aiplay icon and you should now have audio & video to the ATV.
