'Twas The Night Before Tiger"

‘Twas the night before Tiger, at last to install
on my ‘luminumPB, get ready for Fall;
The kids were IM’ing and chatting with glee
On their Pismo and iBooks, content with G3.

I in my cut-offs, and mom in her jams
Stretched out on the couch while I checked out my RAM.
When out from my office there came such loud chatter,
I sprang from my desk to see what was the matter.

The iBook was hung with the Beachball a glare
As it spun on the screen in an orbital stare.
“I did nothing wrong”, said my son in a flash,
Just checking my Hotmail through AOL’s cache.

I spoke not a word, but went straight into work,
Though I thought of expressions like M$’s a jerk.
In less than a wink, my wallet of tools was opened
With hopes of squelching the blues

On the screen set before me, I just about cried,
“Til the first step encouraged with “S.M.A.R.T =verified”.
With techs out of sight, no Apple employer
To help get it right, so I pulled out DiskWarrior

And started rebuilding “where’s_all_of_my_data”
Now, 6 hours later, I’m sort of afraid’a
How long this will take, how long for the fight?
It looks like I’m in for the rest of the night.

So for Tiger installs and all hopes for delightful
Events of upgrading, unstressful insertion of disks
And the waiting to see something newer and better in sight.
Come tomorrow I hope that my Tiger won’t bite.
