Am I just now finding this out? Or has it been this way for a while? I haven't seen the app get any updates recently, but alas, I can now mirror the app from my phone. Awesome!

Do you mean Airplay or Airplay Mirror. They are quite different. And on which device?
 
iPhone5... it mirrors the app from the phone to my appletv 3. It never used to do this for me. It's exciting because it's opening up the possibilities for not needing another cable box from Time Warner.
 
If it's normal Airplay (when your iDevice's screen goes blank) then you should be able to use your Apple Remote too, but I don't think Airplay Mirror does the same thing.
...as you can mirror any screen to ATV by scrolling-up and opening Control Centre.
 
But that's the whole point... you can't mirror every app, some apps have mirroring disabled. Time Warner's app was one of those that used to have it disabled.

Are you certain you can't mirror every app? Not that I don't believe you, I've just never come across an app I can't mirror.
 
OH. Time Warner Cable app...not The Weather Channel app...I was confused as I'm pretty sure there's a weather channel station on Apple TV already.
