Tweak in System Profiler -- 2.0 to 2.4

hey guys...

im just wondering if there's a way i can modify the 2.0 that appears on the "About this MAC" and also when i click the "more info..." button...

reason: i have a snobby sister who got her self a 2.4 version and i just want her thinking i also have a 2.4 version

TRUST ME SHE DOESNT NEED THE BACK-LIT lights... as i've turned them off on her macbook (n she hasnt noticed since)

so in short

I NEED TO *SPOOF* or *MODIFY THE SYSTEM PROFILER* to make it look as if i have a 2.4 GHz processor rather then 2.0

let me know if its possible and if so a very detailed and a noob-oriented guide...

can some one help me figure out how to modify the "system profiler"
 
well im looking to rub it in her face...

either way thanks for posting but I NEED A SOLUTION and tell her to get over it just isnt one...


i know its childish but im just asking for help... i mean that is why forums were born rite? to share the "wealth of knowledge by those who have IT to those who seek it"

I don't think that can be done. Now, if it were some string in the OS, then maybe yes. But here, its not a string, its more an identification the processor has with the OS.

If you want to rub something in your sisters face, just do something in your Mac she doesn't know or will know how to. And tell her "See, even if you have the 2.4, it doesn't make you any smarter":D

Do a hard drive swap. She'll never know the difference. :p

But seriously, it's not what you have, it's how you use it...

Okay, SERIOUSLY seriously, who cares? Just one-up her on something else if you really feel the need to. And just remember that it's usually those that feel the need to be better than others that have the most to work on themselves.
 
Switch hard drives between the two computers and take the 2.4GHz one. She will never realize she has the 2.0GHz unless she looks at the System Profiler.

this is how to edit/hack "About this Mac" through "AboutThisMac.strings"

editing the system profiler is a different thing... im trying to get that to work...

I KNOW ITS PITTY and yes IT IS JEALOUSY... but thats what siblings do :p


n e wayz question still remains... NEONE know how to edit system profiler...
 
just take a screen of the window, using cmd+shift+4 and spacebar+clicking on the window. then photoshop it. add it to the default apple aurora or w/e wallpaper, and set that as your wallpaper?

but, it is not what you've got, its how you use it :)
