Looking for opinions. I have 3 tweens who will be getting their first phones. Our mobile carrier is offering the iPhone 7 for $0 w/ a 2-year service agreement. I’m okay with the service agreement because I don’t plan on switching carriers. However, I’m wondering if I should just bite the bullet and get the SE 2020 for them instead.

I feel like the iPhone 7 would be a good starter device, but I’m not sure.

Thoughts?

I believe this is one of the situations the SE is made for, get them the SE 2020 and they will at least have phones that will last them +3 years with just battery replacements required.

I saw that but I believe the Verizon deal required a 24 month payment plan to get it at that price, that's why I passed on it.
It does but it's $200 outright cash discount (loan amount shows $199/249/349 depending on storage) and there's no early payment penalty. Basically, if you want the SE2 and are already on Verizon or AT&T postpaid plan, this one's a no-brainer.

Of course, wouldn't work if you're just going prepaid.

Gotcha! Usually Verizon never allows early payment, they require the full 24 month term for the discounted price, I'll have to reconsider this then, thanks!

I know. I read the fine print a few times trying to find a catch and there was surprisingly little. Pretty much just need to keep service for over 30 days. That's it.
