Popular Twitter client Tweetbot 6 was today updated to version 6.1, introducing a redesigned video player, new custom icons, and more.

The app features a redesigned video player that includes Picture in Picture support, so videos playing in the app can be watched even if you swipe out of the app.

A video that's playing in Tweetbot can be shifted into Picture in Picture mode by tapping on the Picture in Picture icon in the top left. Once in Picture in Picture mode, the video will continue playing if you exit the Tweetbot app and open another app.

According to the Tweetbot 6 release notes, today's update also includes new custom icons, a new high contrast light theme, and a number of bug fixes.

Tweetbot can be downloaded from the App Store for free, and all features can be unlocked for $0.99 per month or $5.99 per year. [Direct Link]

The rate of improvements have been slower than I had hoped. I eagerly look forward to widgets.

Save money on cutting bloated cable service to spend it and more on individual TV streaming services/apps and software subscriptions.

uhhh was it supposed to say 5.99 per year or 0.99 per month?

Either way. I’m a huge fan of Tweetbot. But really can’t come to pay a subscription for it.
Same. Love TB5 and despite the small fee the upgrades still don’t justify the yearly cost for me.

That’s why I was hoping for more features from the native Twitter app, since they’re part of this new API program.

‘I would pay $12 for a separate new version every year rather than $6/year for a subscription!’

I know you are being sarcastic, but this is precisely what I (along with countless others) would rather do, because it would be a choice to buy this year or wait for the new version next year as against having to subscribe perennially if I want to keep using it.

Loved Tweetbot, but just will not pay for a subscription to Twitter. I’ve downloaded the native app, but my useage is way down...

likewise on using the native Twitter app.

@mjardin (mark jardin) is a great visual artist, not to mention building this iOS business by himself from scratch.

What bothered me was when he/tapbots started removing previous paid versions in the app store when a new ios version was released. If you updated to ios you no longer could download the previous paid version of the app you paid for. This began with iOS 6 I believe; & if you wiped n rolled back your iPhone to the previous iOS the paid app was still gone.

Scented removing previous
Paid verses four app shore when new iOS began. .
Versions was released back when iOS 5 or sometime close to then.

What is this ... ?

‘Bloat’ is just the inevitable consequence of ‘growth’ in a capitalist system.

I’m trying to find an app where I can pay once. I don’t want to pay monthly to use Twitter. Currently using Tweetings which isn’t bad. Anyone have any recommendations?
