Twitter's beta for iOS has gained "Sign in With Apple" functionality, with the end goal of allowing users to create Twitter accounts using their Apple ID, but still in beta, the feature is still not fully functioning properly.

Twitter researcher Jane Manchun Wong discovered earlier this month that Twitter was working to port over Sign in With Apple to its service. Wong's report was based on code found within Twitter's website. With its beta app for iOS, Twitter is now properly testing the functionality, with some beta testers seeing a "Continue with Apple" option alongside continuing with Google or no third-party sign-up service at all.

In its current phase, attempting to continue with Sign in With Apple may prompt some initial errors, and once through with an account made, there are some quirks. Firstly, when users use Sign in With Apple, they aren't creating a specific password for that app or service. Instead, the app links the service to a user's Apple ID.

Currently, with a Twitter account made with Sign in With Apple, it's not possible to change account information such as email and more since the app asks for a password. These are technical loopholes that will get ironed out before Twitter rolls out that feature to all users.

Twitter is also testing other new features for its iOS app, including a new edge-to-edge timeline view for photos and an internal dislike button for tweet replies.

Can you migrate your current account to Sign In with Apple? I remember apple said this would be a feature a couple years ago at a WWDC, but I’ve yet to see an app give it as an option.
if you use sign in with Apple on a site or app, and share your email address, do they not merge it to your existing account if the emails match?

Sign In With Apple is still only for account creation, right? If I have an existing login I can't migrate it, can I?

No it creates a separate account
Huh.

I just went into Best Buy, since I’ve noticed you can log in with Apple there. In my account settinga, there’s an option to link your Apple account. But as far as I can tell, your old login and password still works as well.

I’m not on the beta but when I reinstalled the client on my iPad earlier this week I noticed it was an option, tried it and it worked fine, linked to my existing account.

I changed my Apple ID and now don’t have access to the Twttr client anymore. Stopped using Twitter after that, more or less. 😂

I’ve seen quite a few apps that allowed you to link your Apple ID to your current account so you can login with Apple or as normal. No complete migration though that I’ve seen so far.
