They have a loginSo if Twitter does not rely on Apple's device ID, then does that mean that they are fingerprinting based on user IP, IMEI, MAC address or other hardware tags?
The article said Twitter does not rely *heavily* on device ID, which is why the change will cause them *less* pain than it does to Facebook, Google, etc. Nuances matter. So if Twitter does not rely on Apple's device ID, then does that mean that they are fingerprinting based on user IP, IMEI, MAC address or other hardware tags?
The problem with AdGuard is that *they* see ALL of your traffic, which means you really have to trust them.If you want a more reliable way for privacy protection. Always install uBO or AdGuard on all of your devices and browsers. Stay away from AdBlock, AdBlock Plus, or uBlock.
That really seems to be a rather reliable litmus test.I know if Facebook isn’t happy this is a good thing Apple is doing.
Me too. Hopefully someone does a comprehensive study to compare them soon.I wonder how successful Safari's anti-fingerprinting technology is compared to other browsers.
How about tracking them by the Twitter user account they are logged into? People might reveal enough about them by what they tweet, whom they follow and which tweets they like such that Twitter doesn't need to much cross-platform tracking. So if Twitter does not rely on Apple's device ID, then does that mean that they are fingerprinting based on user IP, IMEI, MAC address or other hardware tags?
Can someone ELIA5 why Twitter is getting flak here? Like besides the general fact that all these companies suck, I feel like Twitter is basically saying they are fine with Apple trying to protect users data? I got impression from this they are saying they aren't as mercilessly reliant on personal data as Facebook so will deal with it as it comes.
I was forced to give my phone number to Samsung just to configure my soundbar with their stupid app (their excuse is 2FA, which is wildly impractical in my case as my phone number changes roughly once every 3-4 years). The scary thing is that they are demanding your phone number now when you sign up. Nearly all of the bigger social media sites are doing this...

The app also forced me to set Location to "always". I am THIS close to reporting them to Apple.
