Twitter sucks now, its just another Facebook (yuck). The app design is bad. Many people abandoned it

I have never understood the appeal of Twitter. I only have an account as a placeholder for my business but I don’t even know how to use it, it is not the most user friendly or feature rich network.

Twitter was supposed to be an SMS sized message (140 character) to share thoughts and news like an RSS reader. It was dumb at first back in late 2000s because who would log in to a website via computer to read headlines of what their social network is thinking. It got major success after it was incorporated in smartphones where people could report on events in real time and share images of news particularly.

As time went by, they expanded the character limit 280, added in-line ads, hashtags became spam/bot hell, businesses jumped on the bandwagon to continually send tweets to market their products on daily basis.

Its basically an aggregate blogs now. Although I like getting support from business from it, they are quite responsive on it on questions and queries.

now they can end fleets all the same...

I can forgive them on stories although I don't like it. I heard somewhere that stories is the most popular features on most social networks so it only makes sense for them to incorporate it.

Reddit works just like a file browser. I don't understand how you could be confused by it.

Reddit is a confusion because all threads are expanded by default making it hard to navigate, each reply has its own tree of replies with other branches of threads. The rabbit hole goes really deep.

I love threaded conversations like Reddit. But I hate treeview filebrowsers. Column view is definitely the best - I started work on a cross platform file browser that I could use on Windows and Linux but... I underestimated how complicated replicating the Mac's Finder would be.

Linux and Windows does not have column view?

In my humble opinion, Twitter is a WASTE OF TIME.. all social media is a waste of time and resources.. I am far older than you all on here and we never had anything like this when I was your age.. This generation is a disgrace.

The Windows File Explorer definitely does not. There's 2 or 3 third party Windows apps offering it, but they all suck for different reasons.

What is "Linux"? None of the (admittedly few) distros I've tried offer it out of the box.

I suspect you're either not familiar with the Mac Finder's column view or you're not familiar with Windows File Explorer if you think Windows has column view. I think NeXT had it patented and Apple got it out of the acquisition.

This is a very in-character story for Twitter. They try to do something decent but fail to follow through... people of twitter cancel them for daring to do literally anything, 2016 never goes away for the rest of our lives until Twitter hopefully dies.

I basically use Mac but I thought the folder navigation GUI is standard and available everywhere, I didn't pay exact attention to how the folders are navigated on Windows or Linux the few times I have used them.
