Is it just me... or 3rd party clients of Twitter have gone almost unusable due to Twitter API restriction? I used to love Tweetbot, it’s my go-to app since it was launched but now key features are missing. Some Twitterific clients even had the audacity to switch to subscription...

I am not sure what I am missing, but I use Tweetbot mainly to curate my own news feed. I did notice that I can’t seem to DM someone via Tweetbot, but otherwise, I still prefer the UI and lack of ads.

This is true. Twitter is shutting down APIs. They want uniformed experience everywhere.

Figures. I don’t post on twitter, and really use it just to keep track of some news outlets and celebrities. I don’t use the features you mentioned, which explains why I haven’t missed them.

To be honest the official twitter app is really good now across all platforms that I’m on. So I don’t even consider other twitter clients anymore.

I would use the official twitter app too but it’s always annoying to see whole conversations in my timeline (when someone is answering I see the first tweet of this conversation in my timeline too).

And the mute filter doesn’t work that good like on Tweetbot. If I want to mute a word like „Corona“, it still shows me tweets with the word „Coronavirus“. Not in Tweetbot.

In Tweetbot I can set small image previews in my timeline. In Twitter they are big or disabled.
