Cross-device sync means that you sync the position you left off reading on the other device, sort of like a bookmark (in the tradition sense of position, not in the internet browser sense of which book you're in)
Oh, okay. Don't really see the point of that though.
I like to see the latest tweets on my device.

Something like that would irritate me if it were implemented and enabled by default.
All that scrolling just to stay up-to-date with the feed? No thanks.

Guess this depends a lot on how you use Twitter.

Some use it to just see what's going on right about now, some like to catch up, some have a mixed use pattern.

Also, keep in mind that this synching works in lists and per user, so you may have those lists or users where new tweets are way less frequent, but you want to be sure not to miss any for whatever reason.

Long story short: use pattern dictates the needed features as so often. :)

Twiter for Mac is the only app that allows me to monitor all my Twitter accounts in one window. Tweetbot is nice, but its entire side bar is one account (at least the last time I used it) whereas Twitter for Mac (formally known as Tweetie) is the only Mac OS app that lists all your accounts on the sidebar with notifications of new tweets, mentions, and DMs. So while many think Twitter for Mac's update has only caught up with Tweetbot, I beg to differ on this point alone. The rest of the updates were sorely needed however. The quote tweet function alone is worth it.

My only gripe with Twitter for Mac so far is that its window is bigger now. I liked having a thinner window, especially on a 13" MBP. On an iMac it's not so bad, but I like the really thin screen real estate. On the MBP I can only see 4 of my 5 accounts. Granted, the 5th account hasn't been actually used in years, and I've considered deleting it, but it was still visible in the previous version.

Some big names via Twitter hate this new app. I have yet to test it and I hear that live streaming may be gone?

Live streaming is still there.

Just noticed earlier it doesn't seem to support Twitter polls. Guess we'll have to wait another year for that.

Nope it's still there.

The update is cool. I wonder where we can send bug reports though, since Twitter have nothing to do with it? Can we send directly to Black Pixel? Or even just feature requests?

No polls. No pinned tweets. You can't see when a retweet has media attached. There's some bugs with the notifications. It'd also be nice to be able to shrink the side bar that takes up half my monitor.

Hopefully they update Tweetdeck. Since Twitter bought it a couple years ago they've gone from almost weekly updates to only updating it every 6 months.

Maybe you should update.

Great. First Twitter was updated and blocked installs on OS X 10.6.

Now it's been updated to block installs on OS X 10.7.

You must have a system capable of running the latest OS X in order to install a simple Twitter application.
Just out of curiosity, which Mac do you have?

Crying foul about a company not supporting updates for an OS that's nearly 5 years old is just stupid, especially in the computer/tech industry.

If you were a Windows user, you'd be on a Microsoft thread screaming that applications no longer support Windows XP.

I can see it now, "They blocked updates to machines running Windows XP! Now I have to have a machine SO powerful that it's capable of running Windows Vista or later!!!!!11!!1!1!!! This is an outrage!"

I can understand the need for a Twitter app on iOS, but not for the Mac. Why not just visit the Twitter website instead of installing an app. You get notifications via email when someone comments on your Tweets or Retweets, so I can't see any real advantage to using the app.

Yeah, this is definitely a downgrade. I keep getting notifications of the last fav someone did for a tweet of mine. And a follow. I've gotten like 7 notifications from the same notification in the last hour.

Good update. :(

Yeah, this is pretty bad. I'm getting hangs and pinwheels just typing a new tweet. This never should've left beta.

Updated to 4.0.1 this morning. Crashed about 3 seconds after opening every time, even after a restart. Dumped the app and all preferences and reinstalled, worked fine....

...until I added a second account and it did the same thing again. Piece of crap.

4.0.0 had the repetitive notification bug for me as well. I'll monitor it to see if it's fixed in 4.0.1.

Definitely a bit of a mess of an app now though. I just don't understand why the Mac version is so far behind all others?!
