Twitter today announced that iOS and Android users are now able to view and upload 4K images when using the mobile Twitter apps.

To view and uploaded images in 4K, Twitter users can opt for high-quality images under the "Data Usage" setting in the Twitter preferences.

Twitter has been testing higher resolution photo uploads with a limited number of Twitter users since March, but the feature has now rolled out for everyone. Twitter already supports high-resolution images on the web.

Nice to see them increasing the quality. Hope Instagram would do it again. They had years ago when the iPhone went to a better camera but haven't since. Time to get with the times and support even better cameras that are so common now.

Wish Twitter wouldn't apply such insanely heavy compression to images and videos. Makes them look horrid, even on desktop, where there shouldn't be the need to save every little bit of data.

Cool news. Hope they can tackle the video quality next, it's quite poor for modern standards

OK, but would really like to see them support 12.2 Mpx Res, especially for Portrait orientation photos !

Going on memory, I think AAPL has offered this as their Back Wide Camera's Res since the 6s, perhaps even earlier.

Unfortunately, still the best way to know super local news. You just have to follow a select few. I follow several restaurants so I know the drink specials of the evening. :)
yes twitter has some advantages, everyone around the worlds who are into turtles, birds, frogs and other animals post their PHD studies and photos on twitter and after a while the ads, propaganda and suggestions seem to disappear.

So I guess with my few far and in between Twitter accesses, I have been testing this without knowing it was not ready for everyone…

I'm a tweetbot user, so not ads or other garbage floating around. Yeah, the Twitter app is true misery. IMO>

I uploaded several pictures and couldn’t notice any discernible difference. Still a ton of compression, and I couldn’t make out details that were clearly defined in the original image.
