I know with most of the Twitter apps you can get a push notification when someone DMs you or you appear in someone's tweet, but does anyone know of an app that will send a notification if someone you follow simply tweets?

Background: I run a golf league and want a quick way to get messages out to everyone in the league - the problem being we all use different phones (BB, Android, iPhone). I was using the GroupFlier app, but they are going to a pay model, so that probably won't be an option and thought just doing it via Twitter would be the easiest way.

This sounds super complicated. I can tell you how all your iPhone users can do it but all your Android and BB users will have to figure something else out on their own.

Is it really worth it to set up a system where each person has to set up their system differently depending on what phone they have?

Seems to me that this kind of usage is exactly what e-mail is good at. Just use that.

If you do want know...for iPhone users:
1) Sign up for a 2nd twitter account and log into it with whatever Twitter app you use. Most allow multiple accounts.

2) ONLY follow the golf league that new second account.

3) Get the app named 'Boxcar' and set up the new Twitter account in ther and tell it to notify you whenver that 2nd account gets any tweets. Since it only follows the golf league it will only notify them when you tweet about golf.

That'll do it, but that's only iPhones. I don't really suggest doing something where your other friends will have to figure this out for their own phones.

Couldn't you just have a separate golf update account that you have all of them subscribe to get text updates from and it would be like sending a mass text to all of them?
