Wow... that is TERRIBLE security on so many levels!!!
What is? o_O
Never had a Twitter acccount. Never had a FB account either...

I use to think I was a weirdo lol, now I’m just proud of myself

How does this relate to not using the service? It's not like your information can't or hasn't been alsrasdu leaked from some other online service you use or some other service that you aren't even using online or aren't even signed up for (like a credit agency that tracks people in general or some government agency or something else of that nature).

Not sure I understand your post? All I said was I’m glad I never signed up for social media sites?

Yes I’ve already been a victim of equifax, but that still doesn’t take alway from the fact I don’t use social media. So yeah don’t get your post really.

I change passwords regularly even though I have some forms of two factor authentication enabled on everything.

As more and more internet services become integrated into the lives of people, it seems like every day we wake up there is some sort of a new security risk. Its getting tiring.

I can not imagine how bad security was back in the 90s when we used stuff like GeoCities and HotMail. I hardly remember any breaches or stolen data or data collection.

Although, I do remember a lot of viruses and computer destroying malware. Much much more than today

This is easy if you had only 1 email account like back in the day. Today I have like at least 20 online accounts between iCloud, emails, social media, different forums, and services like Evernote and Netflix. Its too hectic especially with 2FA enabled with SMS codes going back and forth.

You also have to set a different password for each, and simple passwords to remember like "AngelinaJolie" won't cut it with force bruters. It has to be something like "Y7%vv8(!p,.56"

I don't get you not having any social media accounts. I have 11 Twitter accounts alone.

That's because no one had any idea of what security was. Once money started exchanging hands online, then the criminals followed.

I'm not sure if you're joking here or not. No password is ever truly safe; it is only a matter of time and resources that determines how long it will take to crack a password.

As for these "force bruters" as you put it, when it comes to brute forcing a password, you can slap your hand on the keyboard as much as you'd like; the key to increasing the time it takes to crack a password is the length of a password. Your 8 character, upper/lower and a number is swiss cheese. A 30 character password without any special characters is going to take much, much longer before it's finally cracked. (I'm not saying not to use upper/lower/number/special, but the goal is length before complexity.)

Twitter's security is among the best. Your passwords are likely being leaked on random other sites that have this same bug but don't know or won't tell you.

I usually make new passwords 4 random words in the English dictionary. I consider passwords insecure in a way if they're hard to remember because that makes people more likely to store them somewhere outside their brains. XKCD later illustrated this here: https://xkcd.com/936/

It's easy to make a password that will take 1 million years to crack with today's fastest supercomputer. By the time it's cracked, they probably have to change the security anyway to deal with quantum computers.

11? That’s a bit abnormal no? I feel even better about myself now.

Indecisiveness when I initially signed up, turned cybersquatting.

You keep feeing good about yourself, I’ll keep feeing bad for you. And your friends, if you have any, since they can’t get ahold of you or share things with you.

Oh don’t feel bad, I just use the messaging app like normal people. If they prefer email, they can email me. No issues getting ahold of me what so ever.

In fact I feel like I’m being bothered too. Social media isn’t needed.
