If it's anything like Instagram, there's a crapton of bots on Twitter. Some IG posts are full of "promote it on..." or "DM it on..." comments, plus all the "$5000 to the first 500 users that..." comments, or the ones encouraging people to "invest with <your IG handle here>". I'm hoping they're forced to disclose how many Twitter accounts are fake.

Yep. Someone I studied with pretends to be living in the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and has like 50k followers yet she gets like 20 likes on a post and only a few comments by other people part of her pyramid scheme. It’s SO cringe.

I don't know who to root for.

On one side of the ring we have a completely demented megalomaniac billionaire slave driver and on the other side we have a media megacorporation that enabled political chaos worldwide.

I think I shall just watch them consume each other then piss on the remains.
I have to go with Musk on this one. Not because I think he is right mind you, I dont know. I do know I have never used Twitter, never read a tweet and didnt get it when it came out. Im going to post updates on my daily happenings, and people will care???? And I will want to read what other people are doing throughout the day.....everyday???? Ummmm, no. Also the clause of if you back out you have to pay us ONE BILLION DOLLARS. It sounds like a joke.Show me how they have lost A Billion from him not buying, in REAL MONEY. Not fake hypothetical money. ugh

Musk signed a contract. Do you know how contracts work?

It's Musk's fault for signing a sales contract before doing his due diligence.

It's no different than if Twitter tried to back out of the sale because, oh I don't know, they found someone who was willing to pay more than $44 billion ($54.20/share) for the company. Twitter would then have to pay Musk $1 billion.

Unless you know different, Musk says that per the terms of the contract they did not fulfill numerous terms of the agreement. Some, not all, he spelled out, being providing him with the real numbers of spam account data. So to my understanding, the way a contract works is both parties have to, ya know, do what the contract says, or deals off. If twitter had it written into the contract that if they got a higher offer they could back out, and then they did. Musk sued and claimed no such offer exists, that would be a more proper analogy.

This is the most ignorant post I’ve seen on the subject ever.

Musk got the data he wanted.

Elon Musk has gained access to the Twitter Inc. data that he said was needed to complete his $44 billion acquisition, but data scientists and specialists doubt the stream will provide the conclusive answers he seeks about the number of phony accounts on the platform.

After some legal back-and-forth between the two sides, Twitter in recent weeks provided Mr. Musk with historical tweet data and access to its so-called fire hose of tweets, people familiar with the matter said. That fire hose shows the full flood of all tweets—people post hundreds of millions of times a day on the platform, according to the company—in near real time.

Mr. Musk’s access to that data could smooth the way toward completing the purchase. He has said the deal wouldn’t proceed unless he could see such data to evaluate the company’s claims about how many of its users are spam or fake accounts.

Musk isn't trying trying to back out because he didn't get the data. He did get it.

I think he's trying to back out because of the stock market's decline since he made the $54.20/share offer, realizing that he is over paying for Twitter.

The fact that Tesla's stock price has declined significantly (more than $100 billion) due to this clown show of a distraction could be another reason why he wants out.

Your whole argument is Twitter is not worth 44B, nor is it worth the 1B penalty? But yet you "go with Musk". The human that without provocation, offered 44B for Twitter, waived his due diligence, and agreed to the 1B penalty without a gun to his head to do so? That is one frosty take right there.

I almost admire his attitude of not giving a F

His Tweets in the last 24 hours:
You admire a whole adult human that signs a contract that waives his right to more info, then backs out of said contract because he didn't get enough information, then acts like a 12 year old on twitter with inane memes??

I am afraid to know who else you admire

Lol now they'll be forced to disclose their bot percentage through discovery. It's probably more than 5% and so they will be outed as liars, their stock will crash and hopefully we'll be rid of Twitter for good.
Musk is playing you guys like a harp from hell. The "bot issue" is nothing more than a smoke screen of false equivalencies so he can back out.

I figured this was coming. It was just a matter of time. Watch him say, he doesn't have any money left, lol! Does he even have that much money?
Musk has borrowed on all of his companies to buy more. All that needs to happen is for his loans to be called in and he will no longer be the richest person on earth.

As long as there is an open API there’s gonna be bots. People automate their accounts for spam and vanity (follower counts, etc.) all the time.

He sold over $16 billion worth of Tesla stock in 2021

and about $8.5 billion worth in April in preparations to buy Twitter

with further funding being provided by Morgan Stanley

so yeah, he has the money/can get it.
"Musk as of August 2021 already had over 88million Tesla shares "pledged as collateral to secure certain personal indebtedness"."
