I just came here to post a very interesting comment about how I don't use Twitter and make a very original joke about how you couldn't pay me to use Twitter!!!
I have a grand total of 8 twitter followers, 6 of which I'm pretty sure are bots. I can't wait to start charging those bots $9.99 a month.
Easier to explain away an Apple / Twitter charge on the CC than a p0rnhub sub, I guess.
You're right, that's not at all sustainable.
I'm going to only require a a limit of one. A super-follow to my account will only cost you something in the neighbourhood of *Dr. Evil pinky* one million dollars.
Who in their right mind would PAY for tweets? Twitter is pure trash anyway. I cannot imagine paying to read such garbage.
Whatever people think about Scott Galloway, he was right on this one. It shouldn't be the users that pay, it should be the creators. You have 50k followers? You owe X amount/month. You have 100k? Even more. The idea is that the people with influence are getting paid to advertise products and such, they should be more than willing to pay some of the money to Twitter to continue to enjoy that access. The proposal by twitter limits participation. The approach here only skims off of success.

10 bucks a month to follow someone?! Let's keep in mind here that this exclusive content is limited to images and very short texts... unless one gets insider infos on such channels I'd seriously question the mental health of subscribers...
