Hello all,

I am a Twitterific user for a very long time - I was. As you have probalby heard, with the new API guidelines, Twitter has disable all the third party apps like Twitterific and this is forcing me to use the app from Twitter.

The reason why I was using Twitterific is mainly because of this main features:
• Chronological timeline
• Sync accross devices

While the first one is also possible with the native Twitter app, the second one is not. At least I don't know how to enable it.

I read Twitter on multiple devices, like on my phone, tablet and desktop. With Twitteriific, I could continue reading there, where I stopped on the other device.

Is there any option to sync the Twitter app across the different devices?

important lessons being taught..

never build your structure on somebody else's foundation. (twitter)
never let a corporation that sells you a device control what you put on the device. (apple)

The sad part is that the third party twitter apps were better than the native app, and, frankly, they put Twitter on the social media map... then Elon Musk comes along and kills the API... so, I say let Twitter rot... I deleted my account...

Twitter is a dumpster fire right now. Soon to be tossed on the trash heap of history, and a cautionary tale about what happens when an ignorant moron's ego gets too big.

actually its not. we nerds will add mastodon, but the average twitter user will never go there. and lets face it, non-tech journalists are not bright enough to even figure it out. I was a tweetbot user but the third party apps were such a small userbase that their loss will be negligible. The people that were dumping on elon from the moment he purchased twitter (and before he even made changes) will now take their bag of poison to mastodon and twitter will be a better place for it. I imagine the twitter app will get better and the world will keep turning.

Thanks for all the replies. Mastodon is not an option for me, as I want to stay on Twitter. I have contacted Twitter support and they confirmed, that they are working on device sync. I'm going to wait until something comes from Twitter. At least, they're aware of this issue.

We can't entirely blame Musk for this particular issue. Twitter started the processs of killing off 3rd-party apps a long time ago. They implemented rules that prevented 3rd-party apps from accessing features that they previously had, among other things. Musk just accelerated the process by pushing the nuclear button.

That being said, he has also made a bad situation much, much worse. And unfortunately, I'm with the crowd that believes that Mastadon, while a nice little service, is nowhere near a replacement for Twitter. I've been using it since Musk took over Twitter and started banning journalists, and I find it painful to use in comparison to Twitter.

I fear the best we can hope for is that Musk runs it into the ground and sells it to someone else for pennies on the dollar and the new owners return it to their former glory. But I'm not holding my breath for that to happen... I think Musk is just egotistical enough to let it die and never sell and/or turn over the tech/IP to anyone.

I think it's time to move on from Twitter. I gave up Twitter last month and I'm glad that I did, especially now since they banned third party apps such as Tweetbot. No way I will use the website or official apps since I hate algorithmic timelines. Would rather give it up completely.

Even if it gets sold, it will never be the same. Twitter is declining like Myspace and even with Myspace existing, it's still a shell of it's former shelf. I think people can survive without Twitter.

Of course “they’re aware”… they did intentionally this.

Looks like the sync feature is really coming. Three days ago Twitter introduced it for the web version and announced it for the iOS version. Well, I have to say that I'm positively suprised.
