Not that it matters much but how can they add a "feature" like this by not needing an update through the App Store? Just curious

Dark mode is one of the many reasons I use Twitteriffic on my iPhone. Maybe I'll give the official client another try to see how it compares these days.

I had to fully quit the app by swiping up in the app launcher and relaunch it. It showed up after that.
That's how it worked for me as well.

Me too!

So users have to manually enable "night mode" within the app? At least Tweetbot automatically switches to night mode based on display brightness.

One of the reasons I love tweetbot is because of the "night mode". But also because how tweets are sorted in the regular order and it shows the amount of new tweets on the top right. I hate how instragram and twitter show the most recent post first then you gotta scroll down to see everything else. I would use the normal twitter app if you could sort it differently!

Just about the only way to do this, short of somehow circumventing the App Store's update process within the app itself (which would probably get you kicked out pretty quickly), is to include the code for it in the previous update, and only enable it when some condition is met (e.g. a certain date is reached, or the developer changes a flag on their own server which they've programmed their app to check each time it starts up).

Once again proving that Tweetbot is the best app for Twitter, having had dark mode for ages, in addition to not being a giant piece of crap. Weather Underground has also had dark mode for a long time, along with Pocket, Droplr, Reddit, Fantastical, and a few others. I really hope that Dark Mode is still coming so that I can have a consistent experience across iOS.
Add Marvis, which has dark theme by default.

Seriously, stop complaining. Is £2.99 really a lot of money to you!?

These people have to pay their mortgages.

If everything was free, eh?
Then what about $14.99 AUD?? Is this still "a small amount of money"? Oh, it is for you, not for me. $14.99 is equivalent to two meals for me.
[doublepost=1471904925][/doublepost]A pending update for me in Japanese iTunes Store. Just don't really want to log out yet. Twitter official app? Hmm. Fair enough.

Ironically I've always found night mode a little difficult to read. The bright text feels harder to read than dealing with the white background lol.

Guessing you can't schedule the night mode to be come on at a certain time?

Nothing beats the official Twitter app

Tweetbot can't give you notifications for favourite people you follow like the official app can. Which is a big selling point for me.

Keep in touch with all the main people on Twitter without needing to go through my Twitter account which would take a long time to go through each tweet.

I used to love Tweetbot. But I grew tired of the number of tweets that just never show up in my TL. All you have to do is compare your Tweetbot TL to your TL in the official Twitter app.

The official app is cumbersome and cluttered and pisses me off, but it doesn't piss me off as much as missing tweets.
Are you sure you didn't have any filters set up? I love being able to filter out the garbage in my timeline, lol. One of my favorite features that I now can't live without.

Yeah I left out a few apps that have dark themes by default, such as Ecobee, RadarScope, Lightroom, Coda, 1Blocker, etc. Oh, and the app I designed at work is also dark by default—partly because that fits with our brand, and partly because I think darker apps look nicer.

I suppose, but for my use I have Tweetbot for Mac, so throughout the day while I'm at work I get notified about the most important stuff going on. I do wish the iOS version had that capability. There's probably an IFTTT recipe out there that does this, but I've never taken the time to look into it.

There is a twitter for mac though?

Tweetbot is the only app on the app store which charge for an update. What a load of sh.it.

Blame Twitter. They only let each app have so many tokens, so they have to make a new app every new version of iOS to continue to make any money.
