Two Apple id's on one device...?

Can I have my Apple id plus my wife's Apple id on my MBP at the same time, and have only one "active" at a time? It seems we need that to sync from my MBP to her new iPad3.

I am not sure but try having 2 User accounts on the MBP and log into the other one and sync, don't know if this works but give it a try.

Correct, just set up an alternate user account on the MB, and log into iTunes with another id
